                About Hypnotherapy

 What is Hypnosis?
The essence of hypnosis is your intense concentration on one small thing to the exclusion of everything else.  Just like when you are completely involved in a television program, reading or driving, you are more able to absorb favorable suggestions which guides you to constructive change.

 Is it Dangerous?
The state of Hypnosis is natural and occurs to each and everyone of us several times throughout the day.  Our minds will move from deep concentration to fantasizing roughly every 90 mins., allowing the mind the take in new information, then downloading the data.  Hypnotherapists, doctors and dentists use this knowledge to help clients realize their goals.

Can it make me do anything against my will?
Not only are you in complete control of yourself when being hypnotized, but you will always have the ability to speak, hear. move.  Under hypnosis, clients are physically relaxed but in a heightened state of focused awareness, which means that you know exactly what is happening in the room and with yourself at all times.

What will I say, do, and look like?
In most hypnotic sessions, there's little reason for the client say anything at all.  It's the hypnotist who does all the talking.  If you speak at all, it will be in a monotone, like you're in slow motion. Most people, though, prefer not to speak because it can take away from their concentration.
You'll appear extremely relaxed, your breathing rate will be noticeably slowed down, and your eyes will close.  Most people are motionless because hypnosis encourages voluntary cessation of all activity.
Because you are very aware of yourself and your motives during a session, it is not possible for you to do anything that is against you value system.  You won't harm someone, commit an illegal act, or do something outrageous.

Can I get stuck in a trance?
It is impossible to get stuck in a trance, the mind knows what is going on at all times and if necessary will move from a trance back to normal in a short amount of time.  Your hypnotherapist has no desire to keep you in a trance for any longer than is necessary and wouldn't have the ability to do so regardless.  If there were a fire in the room, your therapist wouldn't have to bring you out of trance, your mind would already be in action, getting you up off the couch and out the door!

 How does Hypnosis work?
Hypnosis is similar to being in a meditative state of mind. This state of mind allows the brain to accept new concepts and be open to new flows of information. A trained hypnosis health professional will help you move from Beta to Alpha waves, allowing the mind to absorb alot of information at one time.
